![]() On first listen, this writer believes that the young emcee has answered good kid, m.A.A.d city, his ATLiens, with To Pimp A Butterfly, his Aquemini. ![]() The latter track was, among other things, a scathing polemic on the trauma of recent police-involved shootings in Ferguson and New York. An attempt which was met with ridicule at the hands of the cynical listening community that cannot understand hip hop that is more yellow rays of sunshine than gray clouds of sorrow or orange and gold reflections of material boasting. The former was a head-scratcher, when taken without any other context, a hip hop song of the utmost positivity, self confidence and self love. ![]() Kendrick Lamar has released tastes of the much-anticipated To Pimp A Butterfly with releases of sing les “i” and “The Blacker The Berry” in recent months.
